Not quite back into the swing of things

Some thirty odd years ago I had a car accident, that left me dealing with constant back pain and arthritis from the base of my skull down to my ankles.
Because of the physical nature of my many jobs, I would come home barely able to walk, let alone climb the stair case to my bedroom.
After numerous trips to the chiropractor for adjustments, family doctor(s) for pain management, it finally came down to seeing a Neuro Surgeon.. I was given 2 options.
1) more pain management or
2) surgery
As I discussed my options with my family that day, my thoughts kept coming back to quality of life..
How much did I want to continue the regiment of pain meds? So far they had not worked,, so why continue?
How many more grueling 10-12 hour days would I have to struggle with?
How much more time off from work or how many more jobs would I have to resign from before I realized enough was enough?
How much did I want to be involved in activities with my family,, especially my grand ?
All these questions and more came to mind.. so with honest answers and much discussion.. I decided on back surgery.
The surgeon explained what was involved.. 4 pins and 2 rods to fuse the vertebra together. At this point I was all in.. sign me up!! .
The day of surgery, August 26th, arrived at the hospital at 515a and prepped for the 2 hour procedure. By 745a I was wheeled in to the OR and was joking with my nurse and next thing I knew, in mid sentence, I was out!
The next thing I remember was waking up, still a little groggy, in my assigned room.
By 1p I was up and on my feet, with the aid of a walker, and took my FIRST pain free steps. Later that nite my came back and spent the nite with me. I was up and down with the greatest of ease.
The nurses on duty were amazed I was doing so well. Word got back to the surgeon and a member of the team came in the next morning (the 27th) and assessed my progress.. if I could pass the PT assessment I would be free to go home ,, that day.
When the Physical Therapists came in, I got out of bed, stood and walked to the stair case, went down 6 steps and turned around and came back up the stair case. No faltering. I was steady on my feet and walking a tick bit faster then they could have imagined.
By 1045a, my surgeon signed off on my chart and I was free to go home.
Who would have thought.. that 30 years of pain would be gone within mere hours?
And YES.. I was only in the hospital 30 hours from the time I walked in, till the time I left.
So far, I have not had any major problems, and I'm beginning to get MY LIFE back.
I will still be in recovery mode for a few more months, but every day is a work in progress.

I have been reminded lately that sometimes my job gets in the way of my adult fun.
Quite a few years ago I was dependent upon someone elses income, and being at home 24/7, bored out of my mind.
I finally woke up, smelled the coffee burning, and realized I wanted to explore and experience new things.
With that in mind, I filed for a divorce, and have tried to move on the best I could.
I have met some wonderful men along the way, and a few that I would like to forget.
But.. it always comes down to.. in the end.. my JOB!!
Some question why I work all the time. Others say my job gets in the way.
If I were a man. then everything would be ok,, because HE gets busy taking care of business.
Here is the nuts and bolts of it for me...
I have bills that dont stop coming in.
I have to work to support myself.
I love to travel, regardless if for business or pleasure.
My JOB affords me to travel when I want to, maybe not when its convenient for you.
Please dont sit there and tell me my job gets in the way and you do nothing to remind me to slow down and take some time for myself.
I have a few "friends" that know how to get ahold of me off site.
If you happen to be so lucky to have my yahoo id, KIK id, or even my phone number.. then take it upon yourself to say HEY. I will answer you when I can.
If you dont take the time to reach out,, why should I?
Just because I am busy, doesnt mean you have to give up. It just means Im taking care of business.. MY BUSINESS!

I have been on site for several years now, and something still confuses me.
As I read thru some profiles, there is this 3 letter phase that catches me off guard.
HWP
I understand what it means, but, how can one judge what is HWP?
It may mean if you are 6'2" 150 lbs, you are just right.
But if you are 5'2" and 200 lbs, you may get the BBW lable.
We all carry our weight differently.
So how can somebody be HWP, when its ever changing?

The other day I was in a dicussion with a "friend", when I asked..... What is your difinition of a ??
